Missing: One Mommy and Daddy

Even though I’m a big girl, I’m just a little peach and I need to be with my mommy and daddy. I like it best when the three of us are together. Daddy has to go to work almost every day, but mommy stays with me and that is almost as good. Besides, I know daddy will come home in the evening and then the three of us will be together again.

There are times when I am completely alone and I don’t particularly like that. When I wake up in the morning, I’m in my room all by myself. I know mommy or daddy will come and get me and if I start to get impatient all I have to do is yell. Sometimes while I’m playing, mommy leaves me all by myself for a minute or two. I can hear mommy in the other room and I know that she will be back in a moment.

The other day mommy, daddy, and I went to my grandparents house. It’s a bit of a long drive and I fell asleep on the way. I didn’t notice we had arrived and I don’t know how I made it into the house. What I do know is that I woke up in a different place and I couldn’t see mommy or daddy. It was terrifying!

Baby in a car carrier with toys
I thought I was ready for adventures.

I immediately screamed and began to cry. Mommy showed up out of nowhere in a flash and daddy wasn’t far behind. Mommy scooped me up out of my car seat and held me close. Even though mommy rocked me the way I like, and daddy tried to cheer me up with funny faces, I was so frightened that it took me a while to calm down. I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared in my life.

The horrible incident got me thinking. This time mommy and daddy were nearby but what if one day we get separated and they don’t come for me? I would be a little peach all alone in the big world and I’m just not ready for that. The thought gives me nightmares.

cute baby girl looks worried
I would be all alone!!!

It’s strange how things work out sometimes. Only a couple of weeks ago mommy and I got an email from a company called Child ID. They help to reunite little ones with their mommies and daddies. I know first hand what a relief it is to see your mommy and daddy when you thought you went missing. After a bit of research we decided that this is a company we would like to partner with.

When you sign up with Child ID you receive iron on labels with a phone number to their operators. The labels include a unique code on the bottom which is used to access your profile. The Child ID operators are available 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. If someone were to call the number and provide the code, the operator would access the profile and immediately get in contact with the family.

The Child ID labels are a safe and secure way to provide family contact information to anyone who may find a missing child. Putting personal information on a child may not be safe. If that information were to fall into the hands of a predator, it could be used to gain a child’s trust and lure them into a dangerous situation. Child ID removes all that unnecessary risk.

Child ID Label

Once Child ID receives your order, they will ship out the labels the very next day by priority post. We all know how quickly little ones grow. Not a problem. Child ID will send you an unlimited number of labels for free! They will even cover the cost of shipping.

What we really love about Child ID is that it covers the entire family. With an unlimited supply of free labels you can keep all your children safe at no extra cost. These labels aren’t limited to just kids either. They can be used for people with disabilities, the elderly, or anyone who is unable to speak for themselves. You can even put them on yourself so that if you were ever unconscious, your family could easily be contacted in case of emergency.

That covers all of the people you care about, but what about your possessions? If you have kids, you know how easily things get misplaced. I’m always stuffing toys under the couch and forgetting where I left them. Put your Child ID labels on your stuff and if someone finds your missing item, they can call the number and Child ID will help retrieve it.

As a bonus, sign up with Child ID and received a DNA and identification kit. This is an emergency worst case scenario kit which you will hopefully never have to use. In this kit you will put a recent photograph of your child and a sample of their DNA. In case of emergency, this kit can be very useful to the police.

The Child ID service is very reasonably priced. There is a one time setup fee of $19.95. After that you pay a nominal monthly monitoring fee which remains the same regardless of how many free labels you order or how people and items you place your labels on.

Child ID has been in operation since 1995 and has a proven track record of reconciling parents with their missing children across North America. There is no risk involved because Child ID has a 90 day money back guarantee. See their website for more details.

As soon as I’m big enough to have a credit card and operate an iron, I’m signing up with Child ID. I need to get those labels onto mommy and daddy so that they can be returned to me if they ever go missing again.

    • Thanks. I have never seen Peachy in that much of a panic. She even had a nightmare that night and I had to sit with her in the middle of the night before she would go back to sleep. That hasn’t happened in months. Thanks for reading.

  • Lovely photos! Child ID seems a great idea. The idea of keeping a DNA sample is good. As you said, hope no one ever will need to use it. Many hospitals now-a-days provide DNA sample of the baby after birth.

    • Really? Ours didn’t. I had no idea that was an option. It’s not difficult to collect DNA but it’s not something people usually think about. I think it’s a great idea if hospitals did that as part of standard procedures. Thanks for visiting.

      • Yes. After our son was born, our hospital asked if we would like to keep his DNA sample. We said, yes. They gave us a small pouch with our son’s DNA sample. They informed us that the sample remains intact for 15 years or so in that pouch. Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend. 😀

  • I really enjoyed reading this. Such a refreshing read to read from little peach point of view. It’s a scary world as a tiny one and you are most definitely capturing that in your writing. Hope the incident hasn’t unsettled her too much! #thatfridaylinky

    • The following night she had a nightmare and woke up at 2am crying. She hasn’t done that in months. It took me quite some time to calm her down again to the point where she could go back to sleep. Luckily it was just that one night and she seems to be sleeping well again. It just breaks my heart to know that she’s so upset. Thanks for reading.

  • It makes my heart hurt to think of how their little minds can’t comprehend that they are not *truly* alone. I love your blog and bet that you will be that much more empathetic in your parenting because you are regularly writing from your little one’s perspective. #FabFridayPost

    • I know what you mean. Peachy is too little to wander away for now, walking is sort of crucial for that, but it’s only a matter of time. Kids get distracted so easily and can quickly become separated, especially in a crowd. I remember when I was about 5 I was with my parents at a busy bus station. One moment I was following my parents, I looked down for a second, and the next moment the crowd just swallowed me and I couldn’t see my mom and dad. It happened so fast. Luckily I kind of panicked and froze which made it easier for my parents to find me, but it was the longest moment of my life. The terror I felt has made that memory so clear even so many years later. Thanks for visiting.

  • It must be hard for little ones when they wake up in a strange place. I wasn’t expecting this to lead to a message about SecureID but it’s a great idea. After reading and seeing ‘ Room’ last year it freaked me out about how one day I may worry for my kids when they are out on their own. What a great idea. #fortheloveofblog

    • Since becoming a mom, I can’t watch anything with children or babies in peril. The other day I was watching a nature show and one of the monkeys had a baby. The little monkey died and I almost cried. Just thinking about it now makes me want to cry a little. Parenting has broken my brain. Thanks for reading.

    • Peachy has been sleeping in her own room since she’s been 2 months old. She’s actually a very independent baby. It’s new people and places that cause her trouble. That’s when she needs us to be near or preferably to be held. But I suppose that’s normal for a baby. Thanks for visiting.

  • Great idea. It would be fab of somehow the company making these could do it for refugee kids so children and parents can be reunited more easily because so many get separated on their awful journeys. It’s so scary when you lose site of your little one. #KCACOLS

  • I think as a parent no-one ever wants to think about things like this, but this is a really good idea. It’s so hard at that age when they don’t quite understand yet that you’ll always come back – we suffered really badly with separation anxiety for a long time and it was a tough period. It’s best to prepare for the worst then you don’t have to worry about things that will probably never happen.
