Kiwi with Banana and Avocado

Here is a really simple recipe. It requires no cooking and takes very little time to prepare. I love this as an after dinner dessert but it works well as a tasty snack too. This puree is velvety smooth with a sweet and slightly sour flavour. It’s one of my favourite snacks. Very delicious, and healthy too.

Ingredients:

6 kiwis

3 ripe bananas

1 ripe avocado

Organic banana, avocado, and kiwi
Look at all that fruit!

Preparation:

Try to use ripe bananas if possible. Not only are they sweeter, but they are less likely to cause constipation. Unripe bananas are more starchy and will produce a thicker puree which may have a somewhat sticky consistency. Still delicious though.

Wash the kiwis thoroughly. Cut off the ends and peel off the skin. Cut in half lengthwise and slice into half inch pieces. Place the kiwi slices into a blender and puree on high until they turn into liquid.

Peel the bananas and cut off the very end of the pointy tip. Remove any of the fibres left on the banana. Slice the bananas into half inch pieces and put them in the blender along with the kiwi. Puree on high until smooth.

Wash the avocado well. Slice into it and cut lengthwise up to the hard pit inside. Once sliced all the way around, twist the two halves to separate them and remove the pit in the middle. Use a spoon to scoop out all the avocado flesh. Use the spoon to get the avocado into manageable pieces and put them into the blender. Run the blender on high until a velvety smooth puree is achieved.

Velvety smooth.

This puree keeps very well in the freezer. We store ours in small containers for snacks and desserts. Banana and avocado will change colour rapidly when exposed to the air. The kiwi helps stabilize it somewhat but we don’t recommend storing this puree in the fridge.

  • This looks yum and very healthy too! Perfect for the early days of weaning. I wish I could get my daughter to eat more veg, it’s one of my failings. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x

    • Peachy has no problem with fruits or vegetables. It’s meat that’s more tricky to get in there. I think Peachy wants to be a vegetarian. This recipe is one of Peachy’s favourites. I plan on making a batch today. I just hope the avocado is ripe enough. Thanks for visiting 🙂

    • The kiwi is a bit sour like citrus fruit but the banana really mellows it out and the avocado makes it creamy. I hope your little one likes it. Thanks for visiting.

    • It was recently pointed out to me that many of the fruit baby food recipes would make really good slushies. Just freeze the fruit before putting it into a blender and you end up with a frozen treat. Thanks for visiting.
